FRIDAY - Our last work day!

This is the outside of the home we are working at. The green roof on the right is the room addition the prior team added to the house. Our Family has 5 children aged 17-23.

Remember what our room looked like when we started our job on Monday& again 2 days later?
Here it is completed. Dave is vaccuming the screens & Henry is finishing the ceiling lights.

This is a really cool little building back the lane by our job. It is quite unique.
This dog's name is "Tubby". He belongs to the A-teams homeowner Jackie.
I never saw so many dogs as I have on this trip.
Here is Tom K. putting on some finishing touches at Jackies house.
Friday night - last supper together at the settlement. Tom K. & I (Chris) went to the Social Hall for a Pot Luck dinner with a local band singing their twangy Kentucky Bluegrass music.

This is an awesome photo Christa took this morning from the deck where we have our morning devotions.
Thank You for following our Blog and I trust you enjoyed seeing and hearing what we did while at Henderson Settlement in the Appalacian mountains of Kentucky.

THURSDAY- One more work day to go!

I think we made friends with the watch dog today after I brought him 2 Corn Dogs. He spent the afternoon inside while we worked around him.
The fog was thick when we had devotions at 7AM on the deck. It was our teams turn to lead devotions.
Henry sitting down on the job.
This is our homeowner Michael. He was rebuilding his chimney. He heats with coal & wood.

Christa came out to our job this morning and helped sand. Matt cut & installed window casing.

Our sanders were kept busy today. We want to get our walls & ceiling primed tomorrow.

Cheryl & her homeowner painted the trim for her room.
Yes, that is a snake Cheryl is holding.

Here is what Christa has been up to.....

Shirley on left is a volunteer from Indiana. Mary & Sarah are locals who work in the thrift shop.
Here is a pic of the sewing room in the Senior Center where the ladies quilt.
Helen on the right will be 91 yrs young and the Senior Center is a big part of Helen's life.
Helen's daughter & daughter in law come with her to the center every Wednesday.....how cool !!

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY !

You will never guess whose door this sign was posted on this morning as we  awoke before the sun came up to start another hard day of work.....our fearless leader CK decided to sleep in....the sign was not on the door when we went to bed so she must have posted it after everyone else went to sleep.
This is Henry's hand sporting a little red salamander/newt.
This is Henry with little red salamander/newt in his mouth. Christa already made a box/home for the newt and plans on bringing him home to join her family.
This is NO Lowes, but it had the items we needed for our job.
Gayle sanded all morning...tomorrow she is going to wear white so the dust won't show.
Here I am doing my favorite job....muddin. Really I don't like muddin at all, but someone had to do it.
Looks like Officer David has a new career as well. He is actually pretty good at muddin.
Tom K. was trying to fix Jackie's oven, despite some soldering at the end of the day it still didn't work. Pray he can fix it for her tomorrow.
Tom R. put his hand to some muddin today at his job as well. I think this was the final coat.

Cheryl...will we have to count your fingers to make sure they are all still intact.
Homeowner Jackie & Tom K. in front of a mantel that has been in her family for generations.
Here is a "Duckin" which our homeowners told us is a cross between a Chicken & a Duck.

DAY 2 - FunDAY!

This is the A-Team with their homeowner in front of her home. They are almost finished with their project. This afternoon Cheryl & Tom K. were transferred to my team to help mud & install the receptacles.
Here they both are in their new roles with the B- Team.
Look carefully at that screw, it is supposed to be vertical not parallel...it was my 1st mistake of the trip...NOT!.
This little guy was the watch dog...he growled and would not allow us to enter that door. There were at least 5 dogs at this property. This poor fellow and a few others had the mange.
Check out this pose on my buddy Matt. He is also sporting his new boots he bought when we went to Walmart on Sunday. His momma (Gayle) made him buy new ones. The old ones won't be comming home we burried them in the dumpster.
See that bucket Dave is about to step up on? Well, a few minutes later he fell off of it Thank God the only thing he injured was his pride. He hit that floor & was back on his feet in seconds, fastest I saw him move all day. He said he should have layed there so he could have gotten out of work for the rest of the day...too late now Dave !

Look at that concentration on Gayle. She was piecing the drywall beside an electrical outlet. Good Job Gayle !
Matt & I work so well together.
Here are the guys hard at work.
I think this was role reversal....Cheryl is that you doing wiring & Tom K. taping joints?
That's Henry watching Dave "screw up" again. I think Dave screwed up most of the day...way to go Dave !
